ARRIVEDERCI HANS - Laura Lynn & RITA PAVONE

Sometimes a blog entry really doesn't need a commentary. A photo and a link will do fine.

Laura Lynn's one of the latest schlagers to slog through the Arrivederci to Hans.

Perhaps freckled, sassy Rita Pavone sang the definitive version...

....which (check the comments) had been incorrectly attributed to Caterina Valente.

Caterina Valente is my dad's favorite. There is also a version of this song by Rita Pavone, which I used to have, but can't seem to find anymore .. :(

Any Idea what year the Valente version was recorded?

Pavone recorded her version in 1968 same year as Birthe Kjær. Ronnie Tober did it in 1969. Valente probably covered it either in 1968 or 1969.

Diana Silvas, Tina Rainford and Rosanna Rocci also recorded it.

Pete Colley played an organ version on it his album "Hits a la Hammond!"

Anyone else?

So I've listened to the "Valente version" download a few times, and I must inform, that is Rita Pavone!

There is a pretty comprehensive site which lists Ms. Valente's recordings by language, and Arriverderci Hans does not appear in the German section.

Thanks for the Rita Pavone correction. Will make the appropriate changes.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. That was an old LIMEWIRE file, about five years old. Usually those guesswork files are very obvious ("Monster Mash" by Boris Karloff).
